results, whilst "Gay Microsoft" gets 16m
results. Hence Apple is gayer than Microsoft.
Fact. Write an application which tests the
comparative gayness of everything. With
pie-charts for extra win.
So, in a couple of hours I knocked up a small site to do just that. So know you know for sure, which is gayer!

Awesome! Woo and yay. Can I make a suggestion? Can you make it based on a ration rather than straight number of pages. (E.g. if 'gay mark' is 5% as common as 'mark', but 'gay markus' is 10% as common as 'markus', then that would make markus more gay, even though it's much less common).

"Clint Eastwood" / "Nathan Lane" -- guess who wins? I'm under the impression that more popular == gayness on google, but I can't think of any way to fix that just yet.. maybe compare the ratio of "Clint Eastwood":"gay Clint Eastwood" to "Nathan Lane":"gay Nathan Lane"?

How does this thing work?
Apple vs Microsoft gives 4,090,000 to 17,300,000 - Microsoft is gayer!
But if you click the links to "gay apple" and "gay microsoft" that go off to Google, the results from Google are actually 22,500,000 for gay apple and 17,300,000 for gay microsoft. So Apple's gayer! Not that we need to be told, hem hem.
Anyway, I'm confused!

Dave: this is due to something "odd" about Google that most people will never actually notice. Google has a LOT of servers that respond to searches. All of those servers have a slightly different copy of the database (it must take some time for them to propagate out a new version).
In addition, depending on your geographical location, you will hit a different "cluster" of servers. So basically... depending on your location in space and time you will actually see completely different results on Google. This is why they stick a cookie on you, so that you will always get the same server for the duration of the cookie, so that you have a consistent view.
Anyway, this is why you will almost always see slightly different results than the site does.
